Abstract

574,702. Lathe centres. VICTORY ENGINEERS, Ltd., and FISHWICK, R. July 10, 1944, No. 13163. [Class 83 (iii)] In a lathe &c. live centre for insertion in a tailstock, the running centre b is mounted by ball journal bearings d in a housing e on the shank a and a ball g is located in recesses in the rear end of the centre and the forward end of a recess j in the shank, the fitting and clearances of the parts being such that all the axial thrust is taken by the ball g. The inner and outer races of the bearings d are a tight fit on the centre and in the housing respectively and are held in place by a cap f. The bearings may be lubricated through a radial hole k in the shank which is normally closed by a setscrew l. Specification 574,701 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
