Abstract

565,448. Thrust bearings. JACK & HEINTZ, Inc. Dec. 24, 1943, No. 21654. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1942. [Class 12 (i)] A ball-thrust bearing for a gyroscope rotor 1 is adjusted for temperature changes by bimetallic members 10, 11 which exert pressure upon the bearing housing 6. The pivot 3 has a cup 4 for a press-fitted ball 5 which engages balls 7 carried by the housing 6 which has a spherical exterior for self-aligning. The outer member 10 is a copper clip. or disc and the inner member 11 steel, the members being adjusted by a screw bolt 12 with nut 13 and lock-nut 14.
