Abstract
573,942. Watches. JEANNERET, H. July 30, 1943, Nos. 12414 and 12415. Convention dates, Dec. 4, 1942, and May 31, 1943. [Class 139] A watch movement particularly for use in apparatus for controlling electric circuit-breakers has a socalled constant power escapement comprising a main spring, an escape wheel and a rotatable retarding weight in driving connection with the mainspring and yieldingly coupled to the escape wheel by an auxiliary spring driving the escape wheel. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a wheel 1 connected to the mainspring (not shown) drives a pinion 2 to the axle of which is fixed a wheel 4 and disc 5. The wheel 4 through a pinion 11 drives a retarding weight 13 on an axle 12. The disc 5 carries a pin 6 passing up through the spokes of a wheel 3 loose on the axle of the pinion 2 and engaging a pinion 9 of the escape wheel 10. An auxiliary spring 7 wound round the axle bears at one end against the pin 6 and at the other end against a screw 8 on the wheel 3. The impulse transmitted to the escape lever comes only from the auxiliary spring 7 as the retarding weight prevents the driving force developed by the mainspring from acting upon the escape wheel. To augment the force absorbed, a coupling similar to the auxiliary spring 7 may be arranged between the retarding weight and a slotted disc on the axle 12. In the form shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the retarding weight 23 is arranged in series with the auxiliary spring 27 and escape wheel 25. The escape wheel is loosely mounted on the axle 24 and has a hub 26 to which the inner end of the spring 27 is attached, the outer end being held by a pin 28 on the weight 23. A spring pin 29 placed on the weight passes between the spokes of the escape wheel.
