Abstract
852,225. Watches. EPPLE, O. [trading as OTERO-UHRENROHWERKE O. EPPLE KOMM-GES.]. Aug. 11, 1958 [Aug. 20, 1957], No. 25688/58. Class 139 [Also in Group XXIV] In a watch self-winding mechanism the ratchet wheel 1, Fig. 1, which is rotated counterclockwise by pawls 1a carried by the rotor 1c, is connected by a friction clutch to a coaxial pinion 3 in the main spring winding train. The ratchet wheel 1 is retained by a spring ring on the hub of the pinion 3 the flange 6 of which has a cam 8 which co-operates with a depression 8<SP>1</SP> of a spring member 11 attached by a pin 12 to the ratchet wheel. When the main spring is fully wound the spring 11 clicks past the cam 8. In another example, Fig. 3, the above described clutch is used in conjunction with a friction clutch similar to that described in Specification 814,535 and comprising a spring 13 which surrounds the hub of the pinion 3 and has four radial fingers 131. Three of the fingers are bowed to engage a groove 10 of the ratchet wheel and so provide the frictional coupling force. The tip of the fourth finger is located in a notch 1011 to lock the spring with respect to the ratchet wheel.
