Abstract

739,257. Clocks and watches. NICOLET WATCH CO., SOC. ANON. Jan. 25, 1954, No: 2187/54. Class 139. [Also in Group XIX] In a time-piece the winding-up knob is carried on its stem in a manner such that it may execute, with reference to said stem, a slight axial movement, said knob being rigid with a socket the inner castellated end of which may, according to the axial position of the knob with reference to the stem, co-operate with a member controlling a mechanism associated with the going train of the time-piece, be released from the latter so that the stem may be angularly shifted by the rotation of the knob and provide selectively for setting and winding without acting on said controlling member. The invention is described as applied to a chronograph wherein the column wheel is replaced by a cam 1, Fig. 1, to which is fixed a return to zero lever 2. The cam 1 is connected to a lever 20 pivoted at 21 and having a lug 20a, Fig. 2, which co-operates as described later with a member 26 fixed to the crown 27. The cam 1 also controls the lever 5, Fig. 1, carrying the intermediate chronograph wheel 8 and the lever 13 carrying the intermediate counter wheel 15. The cam I is retained in its three operative positions by springs 18, 19. The member 26, Fig. 2, is axially slidable in a core 25 screwed on the winding stem 24 and having a head 25a which overlaps the bore of the member 26 at 29. A spring 30 co-operates with two internal grooves of the member 26 to determine its two positions with respect to the core 25. In the position of the parts 27, 26, 25 shown, the crown 27 may be rotated to wind the mainspring. The crown 27 and members 26, 25 may be pulled outwardly so that rotation of the crown effects hand setting. If the crown 27 and member 26 are pushed inwardly from the position shown, the castellated end of the member 26 engages the end 20a of the lever 20 so that rotation of the crown 27 effects movement of the cam 1.
