Abstract

1302418 Geographical timepiece SYNCHRON SA 18 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 7696/70 Heading G3T A watch for indicating the time in two geographic. zones by means of an hour hand 19 which is additional to conventional hour and minute hands 20, 21 has two setting positions of its winding and setting stem 6. In an extreme outer position of the stem 6, a clutch wheel 10 is slid inwards by a yoke 8 along a square portion 11 of the stem 6 so that toothing 37 of the clutch wheel 10 engages a setting pinion 29 and a wheel 30 freely set thereon. The pinion 29 is fixed to a gear-ring 31 which drives an intermediate wheel 28 having a pinion 27 and thus a wheel and arbor 26 associated with the additional hand 19. Simultaneously the wheel 30 drives a minute wheel 24 having a pinion (25) and which drive a minute cannon 22 and an hour wheel and arbor 23 respectively. Minute hand 21 and hour hands 20, 19 are thus set together. In an intermediate position of the stem 6, the toothing 37 engages the pinion 29 but not the free wheel 30 because a portion 30b thereof is relieved. The extra hand 19 may thus be set, while the conventional hands 20, 21 are allowed to remain stationary by means of a clutch comprising twelve holes 34 in the hour wheel 23, two studs 35 on the wheel 26, and a spring 33. The three positions of the stem 6 are determined by a rocking lever 7 which acts on the clutch arm 8 and carries a pin (18) Fig. 1 (not shown) engaging one of three notches (15, 16, 17) in a spring arm 14 of a bridge 13. The watch further comprises a date-ring 2 and a seconds hand 39.
