Abstract

1,125,790. Watches. SHAO - TANG LEE Dec. 10, 1965 [Dec. 11, 1964j, No.52603/65. Heading G3T. A watch has letters 20 marked on its rim indicating different time zones, a fixed local time dial ring 23 having numbers 2-22 radially aligned with the letters 20 and corresponding with the equivalant time in the different time zones, and a central dial 70 rotatable with respect to the dial ring, the central dial indicating time based on a specific meridian. A stem winder 35 is attached to a gear wheel 33 which meshes with teeth 32 on the central dial 70. When the stem winder is pulled out, a projection 34 attached to the stem 47 engages an incision 60 in the gear wheel 33 and the shaft separator cams an hour hand shaft upwards so that a cone shaped surface 42 attached to the hour hand shaft engages a similarly shaped recess 48 in the lower surface of the central dial. The central dial 70 and the hour hand 66 may therefore be rotated together by turning the winder 35 so that the time at any locality indicated by an arrow 50 corresponding to the time shown on the central dial may be determined by the position of the hour hand with respect to the local time dial ring 23. On returning the winder 35 to its original position a spring urges a cone shaped lower surface 43 of the hour hand shaft back into engagement with a recess 44 in a hands driving gear 45. The names of the places corresponding to the letters 20 are marked on the back of the watch.
