1346545 Watches BERNARD GOLAY S A 24 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 24418/72 Heading G3T In a centre seconds hand watch having a fourth wheel 1 which drives an escape wheel pinion 2, the wheel 1 carries planetary gears 3, 4 which are fixed together and respectively engage with a normally stationary wheel 5 and a cannon pinion 6. The wheel 1 rotates once a minute and thus drives the cannon pinion 6, which is attached to a minute hand, round once per hour. A minute wheel 7 and pinion 8 couple the cannon pinion 6 to an hour wheel 9. For setting, a crown 18 is pulled outwardly from the rest position shown until a spring 19 engages the other of two grooves in the setting stem. A square bush 22 moves with the crown 18 and engages a squared butt 15 on the shaft of wheel 5. If the square parts are not aligned, damage is prevented by spring 23 which is retained by a square ring 21 press fitted in the stem. The wheel 5, which is normally held stationary by friction with a bridge 13 under the influence of spring 14, may then be rotated by turning the crown 18 to set the hands via the gears 3, 4 and the cannon pinion 6. The crown 18 is arranged at the centre of case back 16 and is waterproofed by a ring 20.
