Abstract

1397492 Watches CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 16 May 1973 [16 May 1972 (2) 31 March 1973 (3) 19 April 1973] 23310/73 Heading G3T A watch has a winding/setting stem 1 adjustable to four axial positions, in one of which rotation of the stem adjusts the regulator of the watch. In the inner, winding position, Fig. 1 (not shown), pinion 3 on the stem transmits rotation via wheels 4 and 7 to a winding wheel (15). When the stem is pulled out to its next position, Fig. 2, lever 6 is rocked so that wheel 8 thereon comes to mesh with a wheel 22 pivotally mounted on a further lever 18 which is also rocked by a cam slot 20 in that lever co-operating with a pin 17 on setting lever 2. Rotation of the stem then drives the pinion 3 and wheels 4, 8, 22, 23 to advance a date ring 28 and a day calendar via a connection lever 25. In the third stem position Fig. 3 (not shown), the wheel 8 meshes with a setting gear 30 which can thus be rotated to drive minute wheel 31 and cannon wheel 32 to set the hands. On pulling the stem to its fourth, outermost position, the lever 6 is allowed to return slightly so that the wheel 8 is unmeshed from gear 30 and the pinion 3 meshes with a wheel 46, Fig. 5, which in turn meshes with a wheel 43. The latter engages a toothed sector 45 on a lever 44 the other end of which is forked and embraces the arm of a regulator 47. The regulator may thus be adjusted over a limited range. An alternative embodiment is described having a longer gear train to the regulator, automatic winding, and a lever (52), Fig. 7 (not shown) carrying a spring (51) to arrest the balance (50) in the hand setting position of the stem.
