Abstract

1,208,381. Clocks and watches. JUNGHANS G.m.b.H. GEB. March 19, 1968 [March 22, 1967], No. 13332/68. Heading G3T. A timepiece, particularly for mounting in a vehicle instrument panel, has a hands setting device arranged coaxially with the hands arbors and extending through the timepiece glass so as to be displaceable to be brought into driving connection firstly with a seconds hand and subsequently with a minute hand. The setting device is operated by pressing the actuating knob 18 against the action of a spring 17 to engage a toothed coupling 19 on the setting spindle 16 with the teeth 21b of a toothed coupling 21 secured to the seconds hand 15, when this hand only requires adjustment. On further movement of the knob 18 the seconds hand 15 and the coupling 21 are displaced along the fourth wheel, arbor 14 against the action of a spring 22 so that teeth 21a of the coupling 21 engage a toothed coupling 20 secured to the minute hand 29 so that the latter may be adjusted. In alternative constructions (a) the setting knob 18 passes through the glass is permanently secured to the seconds hand 15 (b) the toothed coupling 19 is replaced by a fork which can be brought into driving engagement with the seconds hand 15 (c) different means are provided for disconnecting the hands from the clockwork drive during the setting operation.
