Abstract

573,630. Hydroxylamine. SMITH, A. E. W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 4, 1942, No. 17275. [Class 1 (ii)] Hydroxylamine is prepared by heating 1 : 2 dinitroethane with a mineral acid other than nitric or other strongly oxidizing acid. Hydrochloric and sulphuric acids are suitable. Example, 1:2 dinitroethane is heated to 150‹ in a sealed tube with concentrated hydrochloric acid to produce hydroxylamine hydrochloride.
