571,129. Fireplaces. BLANK, A. Jan. 11, 1944, No. 542. [Class 126] A device for converting an open-fireplace into a closed stove comprises a fitting adapted to be inserted into the fireplace opening and consisting of front and top members 10, 11, the latter being provided with supporting legs 14 and having, at the rear, a cut-away portion 19 to permit the escape of combustion products to the chimney 32. The top member 11 is also formed with an opening adapted to be closed by a removable cover 22 and serving both for feeding fuel and as a boiling opening. The front member 10 is provided with mica windows 25, 26 and with air-supply openings 15 controlled by a hit-andmiss damper 16. A trivet 31 forming an extension of the top plate 11 may be attached to the front 10 by the engagement of studs 29, 30 in keyhole slots 27, 28.
