562,256. Domestic fireplaces. SUMMERS, A. V., and SUMMERS, V. R. Dec. 30, 1942, No. 18542. [Class 126] A domestic fireplace suitable for burning anthracite and similar fuels comprises a fire basket 2 having spaced firebars supported by legs 3 above the hearth 12, a screen 11 closing the space between the front edge of the fire basket and the hearth, a rake having prongs 8 and movable by a handle 9 over guide bars 6 attached to the screen 11, and an air inlet 13 leading from below the fire basket to the outer atmosphere. The rear ends of the guide bars 6 are curved so that when the rake is in its inner position the prongs 8 are below the firebars. The air inlet 13 may be fitted with a control valve.
