Jan. 17, 1944, No. 893 [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XIV] A tubular gas burner 6 for igniting fires is fitted with a nozzle 8 having a small circular orifice formed by two cones meeting at their apices so as to give a narrow elongated flame which may be directed on to the fuel. After the fuel surface has become red hot the gas supply is momentarily interrupted and then burns only at the fuel surface. The burner may have a lug 7 by which it may be secured by a bolt 4 and wing nut 5 to a split clamp block 3 adjustable vertically on a rod 2 which is fixed on a base 1 placed in front of the fireplace.
