Abstract

1344610 Igniting burners; burners for gas cookers CANNON INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [29 Nov 1969] 58447/69 Headings F4F and F4T A boiling burner for a gas cooker comprises a burner cap 1 with flame ports 6 seated in a clamping ring 2 on a body part 3 and having an ignition electrode 18 terminating within a recess 27 in the clamping ring for protection from flames at the ports 6 and from spillage, a gas air mixture fed to the recess 27 through passageways 29 being ignited by the electrode and the flames formed thereby rising by convection to ignite the mixture issuing from the main ports 6. The passageways 29 are counter-bored to improve ignition. In an alternative embodiment a shield ring is provided between the clamping ring and burner cap and the electrode terminates in a pocket defined between the two rings.
