1387633 A boiling burner CANNON INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 May 1972 [19 May 1971] 15763/71 Headings F4T and F4F A boiling burner for a hot plate of a domestic gas cooker employing spark ignition means comprises an earthed burner body 23, an electrode 32 insulated from the body by a burner skirt 8 seated on the burner body and in electrical continuity therewith, a burner cap (Fig. 1, not shown), seated on the skirt and having flame parts therein, the electrode extending into a pocket 30 defined by the skirt and connected to the interior 24 of the body 23 by a passageway 22 through which gas may flow into the pocket and the skirt 8 having a portion 21 spaced above the electrode to shield it and to provide a spark-gap for ignition of the gas in the pocket. The skirt has external and internal annular flanges 13, 14 which are bridged by vertical webs 20 to form the walls of the pocket 30. The passageway is formed as a slot in the lower surface 18 of the skirt which rests upon a spigot portion 25 of the body 23 protruding through the hot plate 26. The cap, skirt, and body merely rest in mutual contact and are located against relative turning by keys (Fig. 1, not shown). The body is inserted into the hot plate from below and retained by screws 29 and the electrode has a collared washer 33 which rests in a hole 31 in the hot plate. A four-burner-plate is described in which all the electrodes are connected to a common high-tension electrical source.
