Abstract

PURPOSE: To fully monitor a flame position and a combustion state by mounting an ionization electrode through a flame stabilization grille as in an ignition electrode, extending both electrodes into a combustion room while properly insulating their chips. CONSTITUTION: A burner is ignited by impressing a high voltage to an electrode 8 from a cable 9. The cable 9 is properly insulated and sparks for ignition are generated between a curved chip 10' of an ignition electrode and the wall part of a grille 5 adjacent to it or a front metal flange 11 for fixing the grille 5. The wall part of the grille 5 or the flange 11 is grounded by a tank for constituting a distribution room 2. For monitoring whether the burner is operating normally or not, especially the combustion state of flame or the position of flame in the combustion room, a proper voltage is impressed similarly to an ionization electrode 12 from a cable 10. The electrode 12 is properly insulated, and the flame development state is detected at the part between a chip 13 of the electrode 12 and the adjacent part of the grille 5.
