Abstract

570,689. M e t a l cutting burners. HOBBS, J. Sept. 24, 1943, No. 15722. [Class 75 (i)] A metal cutting torch comprises a tube 1 screwing into a torch head 5 and surrounded by a sleeve 9 secured to the torch head by a nut 14, the bore 2 of the tube 1 registering with the cutting oxygen passage 4 in the torch head and being of reduced diameter at its lower end, and the outer surface 7 of the lower end of the tube being formed with parallel channels 7 surrounded by the cylindrical bore 10 at the bottom of the sleeve and extending upwards to slightly above the bottom of a flared portion 12 of the internal surface of the sleeve for the passage of combustible gas. The channels 7 are of decreasing depth at their upper ends 8.
