Abstract

919,209. Gas torches. AXMANN, R. March 2, 1959 [March 3, 1958], No. 7109/59. Class 75 (1). A flash-back arrester disposed in the grip of a welding and cutting torch comprises a porous sleeve 2 disposed within a housing 1 and enclosing a non-return valve 3. The ends of the sleeve are sealed and gas is supplied to the inside of the sleeve through the non-return valve. The gas passes through the porous wall of the sleeve and then through an exit bore 8 in the housing 1 to the burner. In another embodiment the sleeve and housing are conical and the non- return valve is located near the large entrance end of the sleeve. Two flash-back arresters may be provided in a single grip.
