Abstract

570,411. Stabilized paper ; waterproofing. WATSON, J. H., and ANDERSON, H. E. June 16, 1943, Nos. 9647 and 15503. [Classes 96 and 140] Single or multiple-ply paper, e.g., made from Manilla or wood pulp, is stabilized against dimensional changes under differing temperature and humidity as disclosed in Specification 553,122 viz. by impregnating a wet web subsequently to the second wet-pressing in a paper-making machine, with a solution of the constituents of a urea-or phenol-formaldehyde or other themosetting resin or a pre-condensate thereof and condensing or polymerizing the resin, but the product of the present invention contains only 2 to 3 per cent. of resin. Ammonium phosphate may be used as a catalyst. The paper, which may be dyed, &c., may be used in patterns, templets, packing, floor coverings, or multiple ply-wood. &c.
