[Classes 96 and 140] A pre-condensate of a synthetic resin, e.g., ureaformaldehyde is applied as powder, to wet paper webs 1 just before uniting them, e.g., at the couch or press rolls 2 of a Fourdrinier paper-making machine; the pre-condensate dissolves in the water in the plies, and is further condensed by subsequent heat-treatment of the paper. 5 to 50 per cent. of resin may be thus incorporated:
