232,246. Todd Co., Inc., (Assignees of Smith, B. W.). April 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Pusblished under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Cheque, draft, and like paper; pulp, adding special substances to; paper, treating with special materials.-Benzidine, tolidine, dianisidine, and their salts, characterized generally by a molecular arrangement known as di-phenyl linking, are added to paper pulp, or to the sizing used therewith, or paper may be impregnated with a solution thereof in the production of safety papers. 30 lbs. of dianisidine sulphate to a ton of pulp is mentioned, and such substances may be produced in the paper itself by impregnating first with the acetate and then passing the treated web through a solution of an acid or salt', such as sulphuric acid or sodium sulphate.
