Abstract

570,022. Optical inspection apparatus. FRENCH, J. L., PACKMAN, J. R., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Sept. 25, 1943, No. 15771. [Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XIX] A device for the inspection of internal surfaces comprises a source of light, one or more condensing lenses and an objective lens arranged so that the objective lens is used to direct a beam of light on to the surface under investigation and the ravs after reflection from the surface are directed through the objective lens on to a screen. As shown, light from a source 1 is directed on to a groove in an internal surface by a condensing lens 2, an objective lens 3, a mirror 6 and through a hole 5 in a frame 4, and, after reflection at the internal surface, the rays pass back by way of the mirror 6, objective lens 3 and a mirror 7 to be projected on to a screen 8. The frame 4 which may carry the complete optical system may also have an adjustable blank end carrying a fiducial mark co-operating with a scale for direct measurement, Fig. 2 (not shown).
