569,127. Projectile fuzes. BARLOW, F. J. O. Feb. 9, 1940, No. 2548. [Class 9 (i)] A fuze for aerial bombs, grenades and projectiles comprises a firing-pin or like striker and a detonator, one of which is mounted on a spring or other flexible arm so as to ensure firing irrespective of the direction of impact. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the firing- pin b is mounted on a spring- arm c in a position to fire the detonator a on vibration of the spring. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the spring c is suspended from the casing and carries pins b, b<1> to cooperate with a pair of detonators d. Fig. 4 shows the firing-pin b carried by a coiled spring c<1> and guided through a plate f slidable in the fixed bush g. The invention may be applied to electrically-fired fuzes, in which case one of the contacts would be mounted on a spring arm.
