Abstract

567,603. Alloys. ENFIELD ROLLING MILLS, Ltd., and SYKES, J. Aug. 26, 1943, Nos. 13951 and 16226. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] Copper-silver alloys for use in the manufacture of electrical contacts, electrodes, and other parts of electrical apparatus include a small percentage of oxygen. The alloys contain silver 5.0-7.0 per cent and oxygen 0.04-0.1 per cent ; the balance being copper. The cast alloys are cooled uniformly to a temperature lower than the eutectic point before quenching and cold forging. The copper may be replaced in part by 0.1-0.2 per cent of nickel or cobalt or chromium.
