Abstract
569,781. Alloys. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO.. Ltd., BETTERIDGE, W., and GADD, E. R. April 2, 1943, No. 5288. [Class 82 (i)] Bearing alloys contain 20-50 per cent lead, the remainder being silver and copper, the silvercopper ratio being between 0,1 and 1,5. Other bearing alloys contain 20-50 per cent lead, 0.2-10 per cent of one or a mixture of antimony, arsenic and bismuth, the remainder being copper. These alloys may contain small quantities, e.g. 2 per cent, of silver or tin or nickel to promote uniform distribution of lead throughout the alloy. Specified alloys contain 20-40 per cent lead and 5-8 per cent antimony, the remainder being silver and copper in equal proportions, e.g. 33 per cent lead, 5 per cent antimony, 31 per cent silver and 31 per cent copper. The antimony content may be in part or completely replaced by arsenic and/or bismuth.
