Abstract

566,770. Pipe couplings. FREEMAN, W. S. March 29, 1943, No. 5038. [Class 99 (i)] A rubber or other flexible coupling sleeve has on either its internal or external surface two sets of annular ribs 3 of saw-tooth cross-section, the ribs of one set pointing in the opposite direction from the ribs of the other set. The ribs preferably are of greater width than depth, have an inclined face and a radial face, and are arranged to facilitate the entry of a pipe into or on to each end of the sleeve and obstruct its removal. The sleeve may have an internal abutment 2 and an integral pressure relief valve 4 of the kind described in Specification 489,824, [Group XVII], For' connecting concentric tubes the connector may comprise one or more concentric sleeves having connecting ribs. The sleeve may be of elbow form or may have branches. Specification 471,068 also is referred to.
