[Class 60] A device for stropping safety razor blades comprises a tubular body 1 having at one end a flange 2 and supporting a spindle 3 to which is secured a blade-supporting bar 4 and a rocking-device 6 of cup form with diametrically opposite slots 7. Secured to the flange 2 is a guard frame 10 contoured internally to suit the shape of the blade 5, and slidably carrying a stud 12 forming an outer pivot for the bar 4, which has a reduced end part 13 fitting the bore of the stud. The blade is held by a fixed lip 15 at the inner end of the bar and a lip 16 on the stud 12, buttons 17 on the bar serving to locate the blade. The body 1 is enclosed by a handle 22 having a flange 25 at its inner end and having held in slots 21 in its outer end, by a cap 23, a plate 20 having a projecting stem 19 which engages the slots 7 ; a spring 24, compressed by a nut 26, surrounds the body 1. In operation, the frame 10 is laid on a strop 18 and the handle 22 held in the hand ; the tilting movements of the handle cause the stem 19 to engage the appropriate slot 7 to turn the bar 4 and blade 5 to press the trailing edge of the blade on the strop as the device moves therealong. In a modification, the blade is held by two sliding undercut buttons, the outer end of the bar 4 being supported by a fixed lip carrying a pivot fitting a hole in the frame 10.
