[Class 78 (i)] In conveyers of the type comprising an endless flexible member looped about driving and tension rollers or drums and built up of a series of ropes extending longitudinally of the conveyer and held spaced-apart at intervals by cross-bars, the bottom run only of the member acts as the conveying traverse and moves in a trough extending between the end units and built up of sections. The cross-bars 37 do not extend across the full width of the flexible member 1, but each joins only a few adjacent ropes and they may be spaced in a series of V formations. These short bars may be bored longitudinally to receive the ropes, and be gripped thereto by cross-pins, by brazing, or by pressure deforming the bars around the ropes. In another form, each bar 37 is built up of two superposed parts bolted together. The member 1 is developed from a plurality of sections hinged together, and these hinges may be pairs extending in line half across the member, each rope being capped at its end and pinned to one flap 38 of a hinge. The slack of the material conveyed falls between the ropes on to the trough and is dragged along by the cross-bars 37, while the larger pieces lie across the ropes and are carried thereby. The end rollers may be covered with rubber &c.
