Endless belt, chain, and rope push-plate or scraper and trough conveyers and elevators; pushplates, construction of; casings.-A conveyer or elevator comprises a trough or casing and one or more endless chains, bands, &c., arranged adjacent to one or each of the sides. The sides 2, Fig. 2, of a rectangular trough 3 are swept by chains, &c. 4 driven by upper and lower sprockets 7, 8. The return run 5 of each chain may be enclosed in a casing 11, Fig. 3, and maintained taut by a jockey pulley 6. The bottom 12 of the trough may be roof-shaped in order to heap the material against the chains which may be of the kind described in Specification 315,774. In the form shown in Fig. 8 the material is conveyed between endless chains, &c. 19, 21 in a trough 20 having a medial longitudinal partition 24. In the form shown in Figs. 12, 13 the conveying run 55 of the chain travels along the lower part of the trough and the return run 56 travels on guides 54 and in a casing 59 arranged in the upper part of the trough. The chain is provided with depending arms 58. In the form shown in Fig. 14 the conveying runs 61 of two chains, &c., travel in a cylindrical casing 60 provided with a roof-shaped bottom 63, and the return runs 62 are without the casing. In the form shown in Fig. 15 a flexible cylindrical or polygonal casing 64 is divided by a partition 65 and the conveyer comprises curved or polygonal members 66 connected by ropes, chains, rods. &c.
