Abstract

560,350. Two-part couplings; connection fittings. M. & C. SWITCHGEAR, Ltd., and MORRISON, R. Nov. 25, 1942, No. 16750. [Class 38 (i)] An adapter for connecting a remote control switch into the supply line for mining machinery &c. comprises a hollow body E for insertion between the machine casing B and a plug coupling D, having a neck piece F adjustably attached to the side of the body E so that the switch cable M can occupy several different positions relative to the body. The neck F is made in two parts 5, 6, the basal part 5 having a spigot 7 for insertion in either of two sockets 8, 14, the socket not in use being closed by a plug 15. The part 5 is secured by a pair of screw studs 9 which allows the part to be fixed in two positions 180 degrees apart. Similarly the part 6 secured by screw studs 10 can be secured in two positions, so that the gland K by which the cable M enters the neck piece can occupy eight different positions.
