Abstract

573,604. Two-part couplings. WOOD & CO., Ltd., H., and HAYES, A. Nov. 2, 1943, No. 18134. [Class 38 (i)] A plug and socket coupling is constructed so that a threaded spindle 2, carrying an abutment, engages a threaded member 3 in the socket for looking purposes, the latter member being constituted by a removable sleeve. The abutment on the spindle engages in a recess formed in the plug. The boss for receiving the spindle is recessed to allow the insertion of the sleeves 3 which is then locked in position by bolts 4. Alternatively the sleeve may be locked in position by means of set bolts passing into the face of the boss through a flange formed on the outer end of the sleeve.
