Abstract

947,776. Two-part couplings. F. G. BAC. July 12, 1960, No. 24319/60. Heading H2E. In a multi-pin plug-and-sooket unit male member 1 which contains connection sockets (not shown) is bayonet connected to female member 4 which contains connection plug 7, by coupling studs on sleeve 2 engaging in slots 6; and correct coupling is ensured by keys 17 and 12 on the respective members, each fitting a longitudinal groove 15, 14 on the other member. Key 12 and a projection 13 are carried by circular blade 11 fitting in groove 9 in female member 4, and projection 13, fits in one of six short locating slots 10 around the internal periphery of member 4 according to the desired position of key 12 which fits in groove 15 in male member 1. Similarly, a circular blade 16 in the male member has projection 18 which fits in one of six short locating slots around the internal periphery of member 1 according to the desired position of key 17 which fits in groove 14 in female member 4. The bayonet coupling has a ratchet action provided by stud 20 on blade 16, Fig. 6 (not shown), falling into holes in sleeve 2.
