Abstract

558,815. Rubber and resin dispersions. PARKER, MOIR & CO., Ltd., and LEVINOVITSCH, L. June 29, 1942, No. 8898. [Class 1 (i)] An aqueous dispersion of rubber and resin is made by mixing these substances at a temperature of 140-220‹C. to form a homogeneous mass into which water is then worked with lowering of the temperature to 100‹C. until enough water has been taken up to permit of inversion. This is then effected with the aid of a suitable emulsifying agent such as a soap. The preferred resin is coumarone resin, but some natural resins are also suitable. The rubber may be raw, or vulcanized waste. Fillers such as kaolin may also be incorporated.
