Pale reinforcing fillers are milled into natural rubber together with, if desired, vulcanising agents and other compounding ingredients, and, thereafter, said mixture of rubber and filler is converted into an oil-in-water dispersion with the aid of wetting agents, substances which act as bases, and water-soluble or water-swellable polyacrylamide or salts of polyacrylic acid under the further action of shearing forces and addition of water. Up to 50 % of the natural rubber may be replaced by synthetic rubber or other polymeric substances such as polyethylene, polyvinyl acetate, and high styrene/butadiene resin.
