Abstract

A latex or other aqueous dispersion of natural or synthetic rubber is mixed with a bitumen that has been diluted with a cutting-back oil at a temperature not greater than slightly above room temperature; the mixture is then heated more strongly with agitation to remove water therefrom. The latex may be a vulcanised latex. The final composition is preferably bitumen (80%), oil (20%) together with 0.25 to 5% by wt. of the bitumen of rubber.
