Abstract

A composition comprises finely-divided vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber having a combined sulphur content of 1 to 2.5% by weight in intimate admixture with a rubber extender oil in an amount ranging from one to three times the weight of the rubber. The composition may be made by mixing a vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber latex with an emulsion of the extender oil in water or by mixing the oil directly with the vulcanized latex, coagulating the mixture, optionally washing the mixture and separating from the aqueous phase. The composition may be used as a masterbatch for incorporation into further rubber. Specification 730,864 is reffered to.
