Abstract

1,125,801. Natural rubber/carbon black masterbatch. BOARD OF MALAYA, RUBBER RESEARCH INSTITUTE. 20 Jan., 1966 [5 Feb., 1965], No. 5205/65. Heading C3Q. An aqueous dispersion of carbon black stabilized with a dispersing agent is added to a natural rubber field latex, optionally preserved by the use of up to 0-2% by weight of ammonia, the mixture is agitated to effect uniform mixing and further agitated until the rubber flocculates and finally coagulates, and the coagulum is separated from the serum, the carbon black being used in amounts up to 100% by weight of the rubber in the latex. If desired, an aqueous emulsion of mineral oil is intimately mixed with the latex prior to addition of the black.
