Abstract

a polyvinyl alcohol/natural rubber masterbatch comprises 80-20% by weight of natural rubber and 20-80% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol. Polyvinyl alcohol/rubber masterbatches may be prepared by admixing an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol with a latex of natural or synthetic rubber and coprecipitating the mixture to provide a composition containing from more than 20% to 80% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol. The masterbatches may be added to natural or synthetic rubber. Specifications 803,013 and 880,739 are referred to.
