Abstract
675,715. Preserving natural rubber latex. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Jan. 22, 1951 [April 19, 1950], No. 1606/51. Class 70 The after creaming of a cream of a natural rubber latex containing up to 0.1 per cent of a vegetable mucilage creaming agent such as ammonium alginate, is prevented by adding up to 0.5 per cent of ammonium borate based on the weight of the cream. The borate may be added as (NH 4 ) 2 B 4 O 7 4H 2 O, NH 4 HB 4 O 7 H 2 O or boric acid may be added to a latex containing excess of free ammonia. Formaldehyde, ammonium oleate, arsenic trioxide, nitroparaffins, alkyl mercury esters, hydroxylamine, and sodium pentachlorphenate may also be added.
