Abstract

Rubber latex is preserved prior to concentration by the addition thereto of 0.025 to 0.2% of a phosphate capable of breaking down the viscous complexes present in the latex and of 0.04 to 0.4% by weight of formaldehyde added as an aqueous solution, all proportions calculated on the weight of latex. Phosphates specified are diammonium, disodium, and dipotassium hydrogen phosphates. An artificial soap or surface active agent may also be added.
