Abstract
A solution suitable for cleansing oily patches on metal printing surfaces comprises an aqueous solution of vinyl phosphonic or polyvinyl phosphonic acid. In one example a cleaning solution comprises 300 c.c. of water, 700 c.c. of glycerine 0.5 gms. of polyvinyl phosphonic acid. Additives for the solution may include Thymol Blue ammonium phosphate, carboxy-methyl celluloses, alcohols, polyglycols, dextrins, alginates, vegetable gums or sodium citrate. The solution preferably contains 0.1 to 10% by weight of vinyl phosphonic and/or polyvinyl phosphonic acid.
