Abstract
816,283. Stabilizing soil. CORSON Inc., G. & W. H. Nov. 26, 1957 [June 28, 1957], No. 36792/57, Class 68(1) A method of building a road-base comprising mixing water with 70 to 90 parts of a soil having a fineness modulus less than 1.7, 10 to 30 parts of a pozzolan to make altogeher 100 parts and 2 to' 9 parts of lime. The mixture is compacted and allowed to set under natural ambient conditions until it achieves a compressive strength of not more than half that which it would ultimately achieve. The mass is then broken up, remixed, compacted on the final site and exposed to natural ambient conditions to achieve its ultimate compressive strength. Examples are given showing that this procedure results in an increase of from 25 to 65 per cent in the ultimate compressive strength. Specification 775,908 and USA.
