Abstract
Natural rubber latex is separated into a yellow and a white fraction by centrifuging such latex to which less than 0.1 per cent of ammonia or an equivalent amount of another alkali has been added. The pH is preferably adjusted to between 6 and 8. The resulting white fraction is more stable with regard to heat and spontaneous coagulation and less viscous than the original latex. In examples fresh latex is separated by centrifuging in tubes for 20 minutes at 2000 revolutions per minute. Specifications 612,443 and 621,998 are referred to.
