Abstract
Rubber latex is concentrated by centrifuging, without previous evaporation, at a temperature between 45 DEG C. and 85 DEG C. The resulting cream contains a greater proportion of the rubber of the original latex than cream obtained by centrifuging at normal temperatures, e.g. 83,6 per cent of original total solids at 60 DEG C. as compared with 62,6 per cent at 18 DEG C., and the skim contains a smaller proportion of rubber. The concentrate obtained may be compounded with the usual filling &c. agents, incorporated in the dry state or in the form of an emulsion, and in the latter case the compounded product may be further concentrated by evaporation.
