Abstract

557,635. Treating rubber dispersions. AFRICAN SISAL & PRODUCE CO., Ltd., WALSH, C. L., and MAY, J. June 11, 1942, No. 8012. [Class 70] Rubber dispersions such as latex are thickened and the resistance to coagulation is increased by addition of the water-soluble constituents extracted from plants of the Agave family, including sisal and American aloe, for example, the product described in Specification 538,271. The addition may be made to vulcanized latex or latex which has been creamed or centrifuged or concentrated by evaporation. The thickened latex may be used in dipping processes, or dried to form sheets or gas bubbles may be formed or dispersed in it and the froth dried.
