Abstract

661,637. Preserving natural latex. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Aug. 30, 1949 [Sept. 11, 1948], No. 22499/49. Class 70. Natural rubber latex is preserved by adding an amine from the group consisting of di- and tri-methylamines, di- and triethylamines and morpholine and thereafter adding formaldehyde to the treated latex. Preferably 0.1 to 1.0 per cent of formaldehyde and 0.1 to 1.0 per cent of the amine is used both based on the weight of the latex. Dimethylamine was used as the preservative in Example I and morpholine in Example III.
