Abstract

558,057. Water closets. TWYFORDS, Ltd., and BAILEY, E. H. June 12,1942, No. 8052. [Class 26] In a low-level water-closet suite comprising a basin 3, Figs. 2 & 9, a flushing cistern 1 mounted at the rear of the basin, and means for securing the cistern to the basin, the basin and the cistern are provided with adjacent correspondingly inclined faces 15, 9 respectively, a sealing device 22 being arranged between the faces. Corresponding flushing apertures 12, 7 are formed in the inclined faces and the cistern contains a detachable siphon 5 of which the lower end of the longer leg 4 is positioned in a watertight manner in the flushing,aperture 7 of the cistern. When the securing means 20 are tightened the inclined faces are pressed together so as to form with the aid of the sealing device 22 a watertight joint between the cistern and basin, and when they are detached the cistern can be withdrawn from the basin, and replaced, by vertical movement. The cistern may be supported on wall brackets 29, Fig. 9, or on a platform 2, Fig. 2 extending from the rear of the basin. In the latter case projecting wings 11 at the sides of the inclined face 9 seat themselves on the platform in recesses at the sides of the inclined face 15. Specification 518,061 is referred to.
