Abstract
556,212. Fuel supply on aircraft. PHILIPS & POWIS AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and WOODHOUSE, J. W. Dec. 17, 1941, No. 16307. [Class 102 (i)] Fuel from each of a plurality of tanks 1 ... 4 on an aircraft is delivered by supply pipes 7 to a collecting tank 8 by means of an immersed diaphragm pump 6 driven by an electric motor the current supply to which is cut off when the tank is empty by a contact-breaking device 13 connected to an immersed capsule. The tank 8 is connected by a main conduit 9 to the engine or engines. The capsule may be the tank contents gauge associated with an individual or common indicator, the tanks may be used simultaneously or in sequence, and a visible and/or audible warning of the emptying of each tank may be included in the system.
