Abstract
1420466 Metering fuel ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 17 July 1973 [18 July 1972] 33881/73 Heading F1B A fuel metering system for I.C. engines comprises at least two constant level containers 2, 3 arranged to be filled to different levels with fuel, said containers being alternately or simultaneously connectible to a fuel line 24 by means of a valve 27 actuable in dependence on engine operating conditions, the line being adapted to be connected to supply fuel to an I.C. engine. The valve is operated electromagnetically and can be operated so that the fuel pressure in line 24 is any intermediate value between those due to containers 2 and 3, from which excess fuel overflows and passes by way of cistern 12 and valved outlet 13 to container 8 or fuel line 9. A pump 16 may be provided. In Figs. 2, 3 and 4 (not shown), different arrangements of supply and return fuel lines, with and without cistern 12, are used. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the constant level containers 2, 3 are replaced by float controlled cisterns (35), (36) and the return flow line is dispensed with.
